Not the kind of site I usually feature on this blog but I’ve got to be honest, despite being dubious at first, I’m well and truly hooked now. I’m finding it’s actually a bit of a treasure trove of inspirational modelling and interesting prototype pictures.
If you want to take a look you can find my Pinterest profile here:
You can use Pinterest to browse images and videos other people have collected (pinned) and if you find a picture you like you can add it to one of your own boards. So if you like Swiss mountain railways you can create a board for storing all the images you find. You can even collect images you find on the web so it’s a great repository for images and ideas you stumble across online. Pinterest will even suggest new images it thinks you might like based on what you’ve been pinning.
Now, I’m not quite sure how the Pinterest algorithm works but it’s got a knack of throwing up an interesting picture that leads you to a collection of related and unrelated images that can spark new ideas and inspiration. For example, quite without thinking about it I’ve found myself drawn to images of bullet trains in Japanese cityscapes as well as remote, single-car DMU operated branch lines in rural Japanese locations. Didn’t see that coming.
Anyway, I’ve got an array of different topic boards set up now and as I’m addicted to adding to them they’ll usually be something new to look at.
Hope you find something interesting in there and happy pinning 🙂
